Dave: Awakened at O-Darkthirty and decided to get moving, as I am motivated to get on the road before construction delays. I also enjoy the early morning dark and stillness, while I sip coffee and put in some miles toward home. Z and Peri, the camper cat, are still hanging out in the camper, so I am alone with my thoughts. I use this time to reflect on the trip.
Playing Pickleball in Twin Falls ID, Jackson WY, Arvada CO, Estes Park CO, and Heber City UT. There were also the numerous mountain passes and lush green valleys, beautiful hikes, abundant waterfalls, azure lakes, snow and glaciers speckling the Tetons and Rockies. A myriad of wildflowers, a moose with her calf, and a mamma grizzly with her three cubs. A massive bull moose in a picturesque pond, countless elk covering the mountain pass, and the heard of buffalo crossing the road in front of us.
There were also the National Park lodges and visitor centers each with their unique architecture and setting, and a few with magnificent views. Having a bourbon at the stately Stanley Hotel. The various motorcycle rides, the narrow, curvy roads, some aspen lined, some with dangerous drop-offs - Old Fall River Rd in CO, Trail Ridge Rd in CO and Wilson Moose Rd in WY being my favorites. Outriding a thunderstorm as it started to dump on us, as we made our way back to the Moraine campground in the late afternoon.
Then of course there were the breweries, oh the breweries….. Koto - Twin Falls ID / Roadhouse and StillWest - Jackson WY / Odells - Fort Collins CO / Busey - Nederland CO / Rockcut - Estes Park CO / Mountain Tap - Steamboat Springs CO / Redrock - Salt Lake City. And while not technically not a brewery, I did enjoy some Moose Drool at the Mangy Moose in Teton Village WY.
Like several of our previous trips, this one was awesome and to experience it with the love of my life gives me a happiness I’m unable to describe with words.
